I’ve been playing piano for nearly 30 years…

I trained as a soloist with an undergraduate degree from RWCMD, then I did a Masters at RCM studying Song Accompaniment, before making one more lane change into opera- the area to which my skills are best suited. As a child I spent hours and hours, playing through all the music I could find, and as a result, my sight-reading is extremely good. I have the technique from my solo training, and I have sensitivity and understanding of singers from accompaniment.

Since graduating I’ve been working as a repetiteur with, amongst others, English Touring Opera, Grange Park Opera and the RCM opera school. I’ve also worked on a large number of contemporary operas as this is an area of special interest for me. I play for hundreds of auditions per year so I am well positioned to advise on your chosen audition repertoire. I’ve been working alongside and learning from great conductors and singing teachers for years, and gained a wealth of knowledge. I’m a regular staff member at Oxenfoord International Summer School and at the Royal College of Music.

I like doing music far more than I enjoy talking about it, so I’m going to use this paragraph to list the other things that I am interested in! I am absolutely mad about Mixed Martial Arts and I am found most Saturday nights setting an alarm for 2 or 3am to watch the UFC live. I have fallen in love with I Think You Should Leave to quite a worrying degree, and can’t go five minutes without referencing it, which we all agree is extremely tiresome. I also enjoy an extremely unhealthy relationship with video games and I’m currently in a cycle of downloading and uninstalling Civilization VI. It’s not original, but food is pretty good isn’t it?
